A Layered Reconfigurability Concept for DS-CDMA High Data Rate Communication Links
نویسنده
چکیده
Reconfigurability is a recent research topic. It enables terminals and network elements to dynamically change their functional behaviour in order to optimize jointly performance and computational requirements. It is a multidimensional concept and its algorithmic and hardware expressions generate confusion in definition. In this paper, we try to clarify these confusing terms by defining reconfigurability as a two-layer concept. These two layers are well-defined and are essential concepts for the design of any reconfigurable system. The connection and interplay between them is a subject of different approaches which generate different reconfigurable platforms. Our proposed approach supposes an overlap and a serial processing between the supporting algorithms and its simple and efficient implementation appears to be suitable for digital communication applications. A complete example for a reconfigurable direct sequence code division multiple access (DS-CDMA) receiver for high data rates is presented and analyzed. The case demonstrates the value of our reconfigurable concept and interplay approach.

The throughput enhancement of Space-Time Spreading (STS)-based Multicarrier Direct Sequence Code Division Multiple Access (MC DS-CDMA) system is investigated in this paper. Variable Spreading Factor (VSF) is utilized to improve the data throughput of the system. In this contribution, an analytical approach is proposed to compute a new expression for the Bit Error Rate (BER) performance of t...

1. Introduction In order to offer higher data-rate communication services above 2 Mbps in cellular systems, High-Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) is currently under discussion in the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) based on the W-CDMA air interface [1]. HSDPA contains such techniques as adaptive modulation and channel coding (AMC) in accordance with radio link conditions (fast lin...
متن کاملNonlinear Multiuser Receiver for Optimized Chaos-Based DS-CDMA Systems
Chaos based communications have drawn increasing attention over the past years. Chaotic signals are derived from non-linear dynamic systems. They are aperiodic, broadband and deterministic signals that appear random in the time domain. Because of these properties, chaotic signals have been proposed to generate spreading sequences for wide-band secure communication recently. Like conventional DS...

In recent years, there has been considerable interest in the use of CDMA in mobile communications. Bit error rate is one of the most important parameters in the evaluation of CDMA systems. In this paper, we develop a technique to find an accurate approximation to the probability of bit error for asynchronous direct–sequence code division multiple–access (DS/CDMA) systems by modeling the multipl...
متن کاملA Multicarrier CDMA System with Adaptive Subchannel Allocation for Forward Links
Recently, multicarrier transmission schemes have been introduced into code-division multiple access (CDMA) systems to gain advantages for high data rate transmission. One of the methods is to transmit identical narrowband direct-sequence (DS) waveforms in parallel over a number of subchannels using frequency diversity. In this paper, we propose a multicarrier CDMA system with an adaptive subcha...
